Red Bull New York came away victorious in their match vs. Chicago Fire at Soldier Field, with a 3-1 victory.
Jorge Ruvalcaba, Cade Cowell and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting all scored for New York.
New York opened the scoring in the 45th minute of the match, when New York earned the ball in Chicago’s half and captain Emil Forsberg received a pass from midfielder Adri Mehmeti and played winger Jorge Ruvalcaba, who cut in and fired a right-footed shot into the top left corner.Â
Ruvalcaba scored his fourth MLS goal of the season and now has scored four goals in his last six MLS appearances. Ruvalcaba’s four MLS goals this season currently ranks tied for third among MLS newcomers.
The Red Bulls doubled their lead in the 49th minute, when midfielder Ronald Donkor carried the ball through Chicago’s midfield and played a through ball into the path of winger Cade Cowell, who placed a right-footed shot below Chicago goalkeeper Chris Brady and found the back of the net.Â
Cowell's goal was his first for RBNY.
New York added a third in the 81st minute of play, when Mehmeti was brought down in the box by Brady. Forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting stepped up and fired his attempt to the right-hand corner and scored.Â
Forsberg tallied his fourth MLS assist of the season and the 20th of his Red Bulls career. The midfielder became the seventh player in franchise history to record 20-plus MLS goals and 20-plus MLS assists in a Red Bulls career.
Donkor tallied his fourth MLS assist of the season and the eighth of his MLS career. The Ghanian midfielder has tallied four goal contributions in his last four MLS matches. Â
Voloder recorded his second MLS assist of the season and the third of his MLS career.Â
Choupo-Moting scored his second MLS goal of the season and the 19th of his MLS career.Â
Donkor, Mehmeti, and Forsberg all rank tied for eighth in the Eastern Conference in assists with four.Â
Goalkeeper Ethan Horvath made four saves on the night.
