The New York Red Bulls winless streak continued on Saturday night, as they fell 2-1 to CF Montréal thanks to a penalty kick in the 98th minute.

Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel saved two penalty attempts, but both were overturned by VAR for encroachment. Montréal were able to convert the third penalty to take the lead for good.

New York got on the board in the first half when Andrew Gutman drew a penalty after making a streaking run into the box and was cut down at the knees. Patryk Klimala stepped up and converted the penalty for his fourth goal on the season.

Coronel kept Montréal off the board in the first half with a stellar stop, stoning a point-blank attempt with his left hand.

Montréal were able to draw even in the 71st minute, heading in a ball bouncing around inside the box.

New York returns home to start a three-match homestand vs. Columbus Crew SC and New York City FC, on Wednesday and Saturday, respectively. The Red Bulls will be looking to pick up their first win since July 3.
