MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Red Bulls Fall on Saturday Night

The New York Red Bulls fell to New York City FC on Satuday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium, 3-2.

RBNY got goals from Julian Hall and Emil Forsberg, but couldn't hold the scoreline.

The Red Bulls leveled the score in the 23rd minute, when Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting found the ball in NYCFC’s eighteen-yard box and played a cross to Hall, who placed his attempt in the back of the net.

New York leveled the match again in the 47th minute, when Choupo-Moting played a low cross to the penalty spot of NYCFC’s box and Forsberg fired a shot to the left side of the net.

Hall scored his first MLS goal of the season and his second across all competitions this season.

Forsberg scored his 11th MLS goal of the season and the 20th of his MLS career. The Swedish international has now scored 20 MLS goals, which is tied with Clint Mathis for the most by a Red Bulls midfielder in their first two seasons with the club.

Choupo-Moting recorded his fourth MLS assist of the season and now has 20 MLS goal contributions this season. Choupo-Moting has tallied four goal contributions in his last four matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium.

New York remain at Sports Illustrated Stadium to face FC Cincinnati on Saturday, October 4 for Fan Night.
