MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Red Bulls Fall to FC Cincinnati

16x9 11

FC Cincinnati scored twice in quick succession in the first half and held on to a 2-0 lead, as Red Bull New York lost in Ohio on Saturday night.

"Two very different halves," Head Coach Michael Bradley said. "The first half is certainly not our best. The lesson tonight is the response in the second half."

Cincinnati striked first in the 40th minute, when midfielder Gerardo Valenzuela played a long switch to midfielder Pavel Bucha, who played a low cross that got past New York’s backline into the path of forward Kevin Denkey, who tapped the ball in New York’s net.

Cincinnati added a second in first half stoppage time, when midfielder Evander was brought down in New York’s eighteen-yard box and was awarded a penalty kick. Denkey stepped up and converted his opportunity in the right side netting.

New York pushed all second half, but couldn't find the back of the net.

"The second half was really, really good," Bradley said. "We pushed them back, counter-pressed well, We take the lessons and we keep moving ourselves forward."

Ethan Horvath made three saves for New York.
