MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Red Bulls Fall to Union

Red Bull New York dropped their match in return to MLS action on Wednesday night, 3-1, to Philadelphia Union.

Cade Cowell scored for New York midway through the first half, drawing the sides even. 

The Union scored two second-half goals to earn the three points. 

Ethan Horvath had seven saves on the night, the most he's made in MLS so far.

On the goal, Ronald Donkor played a ball forward to Emil Forsberg who played a wide ball into the box to Cowell, who laced a shot into the bottom left corner.

Cowell scored his second goal of the season and the 12th of his MLS career. The winger has four goal contributions in his last five appearances. 

Forsberg registered his sixth assist of the season and the 22nd of his MLS career. The Sundsvall, Sweden native’s six assists this season is tied for the seventh-most in the Eastern Conference.

Donkor tallied his fifth assist of the season and ninth of his MLS career. 

"The next time we play a game like this, we're not going to let frustration override anything," Head Coach Michael Bradley said. "We're not gonna feel sorry for ourselves. We're gonna make sure that we're ready to respond in a strong way on Saturday night."

RBNY return to Sports Illustrated Stadium on Saturday for REDD's Birthday featuring Sesame Street, for a match vs. Charlotte FC at 6:30 PM ET. The first 10,000 fans will receive a free REDD bobblehead, presented by RWJBarnabas Health Red Bulls.

"We have a chance Saturday night at home against Charlotte to respond in a really strong way, and that's how it goes," Bradley said. "As always, we'll look at some things and make sure that we can learn and improve and understand how to be better."
