MATCH RECAP, pres. by Provident Bank: Red Bulls Prove New York is Red with 1-0 Win Over NYCFC

Omir Fernandez, a Bronx-born Red Bulls Academy product, scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute as the New York Red Bulls beat NYCFC, 1-0, at Red Bull Arena.

Fernandez collected a deflected ball and sent a shot over the head of the NYCFC goalkeeper.

Fernandez scored his second MLS goal of the season, the third across all competitions. The goal was Fernandez’ 11th of his career, the third against NYCFC across all competitions.

RBNY allowed just one shot on goal in front of their home fans as Carlos Coronel notched the 23rd clean sheet of his career with New York and his 30th win as a Red Bull.

New York now has 86 shutouts at Red Bull Arena since 2010, the most in MLS. New York is tied for first for the most points at home in MLS since 2010 with 433.

Since 2015, New York is 103-21-27 when scoring the first goal of the match.

The win was the 150th at Red Bull Arena across all competitions for New York.

The Red Bulls improve to 8-2-2 vs NYCFC at Red Bull Arena.

Sean Nealis, Andrés Reyes and Cristian Cásseres Jr. all received yellow cards and all will miss the Red Bulls next match.

The Red Bulls will head North to battle Toronto FC on Wednesday, May 17.
