Match Recap 082520

The New York Red Bulls dropped three points in their visit to Philadelphia Union after losing 1-0. Polish-German striker Kacper Przybylko scored the lone goal of the night.

In the 31st minute, Przybylko opened the scoreline after striking a cross from right-back Raymon Gaddis.

Ryan Meara made two key saves in the 35th and 47th minute to keep New York in the game. The Red Bulls finished the first 45 minutes with three shots, one of them on target.

To start the second half, Head Coach Chris Armas made two substitutions and replaced Jared Stroud and Brian White for Tom Barlow and Kaku. Both Kaku and Barlow came off the bench in the New York Derby last Thursday.

Right away in the 60th minute, Barlow had a great right-footed attempt after the Union gave the ball away as they tried to play out from the back.

In the 72nd minute, Florian Valot and Mathias Jørgensen came onto the pitch for Danny Royer and Sean Davis. Davis handed the captain’s armband to Aaron Long.

New York's last substitution of the evening was Omir Fernandez taking Marc Rzatkowski’s place.

In the last minutes of the game, the Red Bulls created several scoring chances to tie things up and finished the game with eight shots, three of them on target.

New York heads to Gillette Stadium on Saturday to visit the New England Revolution.
