Match Recap: Red Bulls fall to Sporting KC in Tucson, 3-0

TUCSON, Ariz. (February 18, 2017) – The New York Red Bulls fell to Sporting KC in their opening Desert Diamond Cup match, 3-0.


Dom Dwyer scored the opening goal in the 31st minute on a penalty kick after being brought down in the box by Rafael Diaz.


Cameron Porter doubled the lead in the 82nd minute, and Daniel Salloi finished off the scoring in the 87th minute.


The team consisted mostly of trialists, NYRB II players and academy players with the first team back home for Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League game.


New York faces Houston Dynamo next in Desert Diamond Cup on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m. ET. On the same day, the first team will host the first leg of Champions League at Red Bull Arena against Vancouver Whitecaps FC at 8 p.m. ET.
