For the first time since 2012, the New York Red Bulls left Montréal with all three points.

Against a team that was on an eight-match unbeaten run, and without key pieces to their starting lineup like John Tolkin, Kyle Duncan, and Aaron Long, The Red Bulls held strong for a 1-0 victory at Stade Saputo.

CF Montréal hadn't dropped a point against New York since 2015, but did so due to a Lewis Morgan goal in the 43rd minute.

Cristian Cásseres Jr. played a perfect through ball to Lewis Morgan, who chipped the Montréal keeper to give New York a lead that it would not relinquish.

It was Lewis Morgan's 16th goal across all competitions. He would end the 2022 season with 17.

New York would successfully hold on all second half to secure the historic 1-0 victory. The clean sheet was one of ten recorded by the Red Bulls across all competitions during the 2022 season.

In the absence of three of their key starters, players like Andrés Reyes, Daniel Edelman and Cameron Harper were thrust into the spotlight and played key roles in the victory.

Forward Elias Manoel made his first start for the Red Bulls in the match, while midfielder Wiki Carmona made his first appearance as a substitute since returning from injury.

The loss for Montréal was one of only four suffered at home all season long.
