Mourinho says he wants to coach in MLS

Inter Milan coach Jose Mourinho is the star following his team's dismantling of Barcelona

NEW YORK – Real Madrid manager José Mourinho, also known as "The Special One," says that he dreams of one day managing an MLS club.

In an interview with former Italian national team player Christian Panucci for Sky Italia, Mourinho is quoted as saying: "My idea is to stay at the top of European soccer for the next 10 to 15 years. After that I would like to have a completely different experience in the United States – the New York Red Bulls or Los Angeles Galaxy, a home in Manhattan or a home in Malibu. That’s the idea I have.”

The 48-year-old Mourinho is currently in his first season at Real Madrid, who sit in second place in La Liga, seven points behind leaders FC Barcelona. They have also advanced to the final of the Copa del Rey (vs. Barcelona) and the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League (vs. French club Lyon).

Before taking the reins at the Santiago Bernabéu, Mourinho managed Porto, Chelsea and Inter Milan, capturing countless titles. Many would be interested to see whether Mourinho’s managerial abilities could translate into the league structure of MLS.

The Portuguese manager has been linked with a return to England following his stint with Real Madrid and has been talked about as a potential successor of Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

In the same Sky interview, he also says that he would enjoy the possibility of returning to Italy’s Serie A.
