New York Red Bulls II Add Defender Omar Valencia on Loan from C.D. Plaza Amador


HARRISON, N.J. (August 11, 2022) – New York Red Bulls II have added defender Omar Valencia on loan through the end of the 2022 USL Championship season, pending league and federation approval, the club announced today. New York has an option to extend the loan as well as an option to buy.

Valencia, 18, has appeared in eight matches for C.D. Plaza Amador in the Panamanian first division. He made his debut with the Panamanian National Team on June 11, 2022, in a friendly against Uruguay.

“We are pleased to be able to bring in Omar for the rest of the season,” Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said. “He has good speed and tools on both sides of the ball, and we are excited to see what he can bring to the team at the USL Championship level.”

Valencia also featured for the Panamanian U-20’s during the 2022 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, where he made four appearances.

“We are excited to bring in Omar into our squad,” Interim Head Coach Ibrahim Sekagya said. “Omar is an exciting young player with a lot of great tools that we believe will be able to help our team for the rest of the season.”
