HARRISON, N.J. (March 9, 2022) – New York Red Bulls II have signed defender Daniel De Leon to a USL Championship contract pending league and federation approval, the club announced today.
De Leon, 21, most recently played for Vlora FC in the United Premier Soccer League. He also spent time with Asociación Deportiva San Carlos U-20 in Costa Rica.
“We’re excited to have Daniel join the group,” Head Coach Gary Lewis said. “He has the attributes that we are looking for defensively, in the air, and technically. We’re excited for him to grow throughout the season with the team.”
During his time in Costa Rica, De Leon scored two goals in tallied three assists over a six-match span.
“I can’t wait to get going this season with a great group of guys,” De Leon said. “We have a hungry group that’s ready to win.”
De Leon appeared in and started all four preseason matches for New York, logging 302 minutes and a goal.
