HARRISON, N.J. (March 25, 2016) – New York Red Bulls II has signed Jamaican forward Junior Flemming following the approval of his ITC, the club announced today. The 20-year-old joins the team from Tivoli Gardens F.C.
Flemmings, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, played two seasons with Tivoli Gardens in the Red Stripe Premier League, the top division of Jamaican soccer. In 2015, Flemmings scored eight goals. At the youth level, he progressed through Tivoli Gardens’ U-13, U-15, U-17 and U-21 teams over the course of two years into the first team.
In 2014, Flemmings played on the Jamaica College soccer team in the 2014 Manning Cup, an annual high-profile soccer competition among Jamaican Secondary Schools. He served as captain, finished as the top scorer and was named Manning Cup MVP. In total, Flemmings led the team to three major schoolboy titles.
At the international level, Flemmings was recently named into camp with the senior team in February 2016. He received his first Jamaican National Team call up in November 2015 and was named to the 18-player match roster for Jamaica’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Panama, but was an unused substitute.
Flemmings participated in 2016 Olympic Qualifying with the Jamaica U-23 National Team and represented the Jamaica U-20s at the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship in Jamaica. He also captained the Jamaica U-17 team at the 2013 CONCACAF U-17 Championship.
