The New York Red Bulls will not let their early success get to their heads.
Following their 4-0-1 start to competitive play (1-0-0 in MLS), the Red Bulls know they just need to keep pushing through international and league play.
“I think there is an excitement. It is not complacency, it’s a hunger to keep moving forward," Marsch said. "The fact that we have a deep roster and a lot of different guys that can contribute I think continues to feed to that hunger and everybody knows that if they have a tough outing that there is somebody right behind that’s ready to play. It means that it is pushing each other and I think that is going to be a good thing for us in the long term to manage these fixture dates that get bunched together and continue to push internally to make sure guys are ready to go. It’s a good vibe within our team.”
Tyler Adams said the club's composure is really shining through.
“I think that you even saw that when we went 1-0 against Tijuana. We were kinda unfazed by it, it didn’t really matter," Adams said. "Obviously, you take that into account and when you are playing a good team like Tijuana and you take into account the aggregate and how that will affect the game, but for us, we weren’t fazed by it, we scored that goal, we kept possession and created chances. The composure on and off the ball to create chances was very good.”
Marc Rzatkowski, who joined the club in the offseason, said the players are thrilled with their hot start, but know they need to carry the energy from one game to the next to keep it rolling.
“At first, I think I can say that we are really happy with our start to the season and also you can see that we have a lot of players who have played really good games," Rzatkowski said. "Just the way that we have played the last game -- to continue to keep bringing it to the next game. It is always about the focus on the next one.”
