New York Red Bulls midfielder Andy Rojas has been called into Costa Rica National Team for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying.
Rojas, 19, played 16 matches with New York Red Bulls II this season, where he scored two goals and tallied one assist. In his first career MLS NEXT Pro appearance, Rojas scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over Atlanta United 2 on March 7. The Grecia, Costa Rica native made his first team debut in a 1-1 draw against FC Juarez in the 2025 Leagues Cup, where he started and played 61 minutes.
The midfielder signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the New York Red Bulls on August 19.
Prior to New York, Rojas spent three seasons with C.S. Herediano, where he made 85 career appearances and recorded 15 goals and six assists. He won the 2024-25 Primera Division and also won the 2024-25 Costa Rican Super Cup with Herediano. Rojas scored the game-tying goal in the Costa Rican Super Cup Final against Deportivo Saprissa on July 7, 2024. He scored his first career professional goal for Herediano on August 27, 2023, against Alajuelense.
Rojas has made 13 career appearances with the Costa Rica National Team, where he has scored one goal and tallied two assists in 305 minutes played. He made his debut on June 6, 2024, against Saint Kitts and Nevis and scored three minutes into his debut and became the youngest Costa Rican player to score in a World Cup qualifier at 18 years, 184 days old.
His most recent call up was for the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, where he appeared in all four of Costa Rica’s matches. The offensive player has also represented Costa Rica at the youth national team level, including appearances for the U-20 and U-23 sides.
Costa Rica will play their first qualifier match on Friday, September 5 against Nicaragua at Nicaragua National Football Stadium. After, they will return home to National Stadium of Costa Rica to face Haiti on Tuesday, September 9.
