  • For the first time in the New York Derby series, the New York Red Bulls (12-10-3) and New York City FC (14-7-5) ended in a draw, 1-1 on Friday night at Red Bull Arena.
  • The Red Bulls move into a tie with Columbus for fourth place at 39 points, but have two matches in hand over Crew SC, while NYCFC remain in second with 47 points.
  • With the second half underway, NYCFC drew first blood in the 56th minute as MLS’ leading goal scorer David Villa found Maxi Moralez inside the 18-yard box, who finished to the near post.
  • Following NYCFC’s tally, Sacha Kljestan drew a penalty inside the box in the 70th minute. Teammate Gonzalo Veron took the honors and finished strong to level the match.
