BY THE NUMBERS: A numerical guide to New York Red Bulls vs. TFC

The New York Red Bulls will match up against Toronto FC at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, May 28 at 7 p.m. ET (TV: MSG, MSG GO RADIO: Red Bulls Radio English/Spanish on TuneIn).  The Red Bulls will look at avenge an early season loss to Toronto FC, who currently occupy fourth place in the Eastern Conference.


Here are some numbers to know ahead of Saturday’s match against Toronto FC:


4: New York has had four players all-time that were natives of Canada.  Defender Marco Rizi appeared in just one match for the MetroStars in 1997, Greg Sutton served as the Red Bulls goalkeeper for 13 games in 2010 and 2011, Dwayne De Rosario made 13 appearances for the Red Bulls in 2011 and current Red Bull defender Karl Ouimette was born in Canada as well. 


7: In eight career games against Toronto FC, Sacha Kljestan has seven points, tallying four goals and three assists.  The midfielder also has seven assists in the Red Bulls’ last seven matches. 


12: Since Toronto FC entered the league in 2007, the Red Bulls have had success against Toronto, earning 12 wins over that time span with just seven losses and five ties.  The 12 wins against Toronto since 2007 is tied for second-most in the league behind Sporting Kansas City.


17: Captain Dax McCarty has 17 appearances in his career against Toronto FC, which ties him for fifth-most amongst active players.  In those 17 games, he has started 14 of them and recorded one goal and three assists. 


21: The Red Bulls lead the Eastern Conference with 21 goals scored this season.  They are also tied for the fourth-most goals scored in the league, behind LA Galaxy, FC Dallas and Vancouver Whitecaps and are tied with Portland Timbers.


93: Toronto’s Sebastian Giovinco has been a part of 93 percent of the team’s goals this season.  Out of the 14 goals Toronto has scored so far, Giovinco has been a part of 13 of those, scoring eight goals while adding five assists.


227: Luis Robles currently holds a shutout streak of 227 minutes, last giving up a goal in the 43rd minute against D.C. United on May 13.  The key to the Red Bull’s recent run of success has been good defending and goalkeeping, which has allowed Robles to rack up the shutout streak.  He also has three career shutouts against Toronto in 10 appearances.
