- New York saw its six-game home winning streak come to an end as expansion side Orlando City SC earned a 5-2 victory at Red Bull Arena Friday night.
- New York captain Dax McCarty scored his first goal of the season off a beautiful set piece in the 29th minute to level the score at one. Sacha Kljestan took the free kick and floated it into the box as Matt Miazga headed the cross to McCarty for the goal.
- Sacha Kljestan has four goals and 10 assists in his last 14 games.
- Lloyd Sam scored his eighth goal of the season in the 58th minute with an assist from Gonzalo Veron. The goal came one minute after referee Jorge Gonzalez ejected New York head coach Jesse Marsch from the match.
