  • Saturday’s match was New York’s third consecutive one-goal road match.
  • New York found themselves on an early counterattacking play as Alejandro Romero Gamarra found Bradley Wright-Phillips deep in Galaxy territory. Wright-Phillips dribbled towards the end line and sent a low cross across the face of goal for Daniel Royer, who finished to give the Red Bulls an early 1-0 lead in the seventh minute.
  • Wright-Phillips found himself in a similar situation early on in the second half and crossed to the middle of the box for Florian Valot, who also cashed in a one timer to double New York’s lead, 2-0, in the 49th minute.
  • Minutes later, Zlatan Ibrahimovic sent a through ball into the 18-yard box for Ola Kamara. Kamara took one touch and snuck a low shot underneath the reach of Luis Robles to cut LA’s deficit to one, 2-1, in the 59th minute.
  • Ibrahimovic then swung in a corner kick that found the head of Dave Romney. Romney redirected the kick into the box and Giovani Dos Santos finished to the near post for the equalizer, 2-2, in the 66th.
  • New York was given a penalty-kick chance in the 84th minute. Kaku took the kick and finished to the left post for the game-winning goal.
  • After scoring the first goal for the Red Bulls on Feb. 22 against CD Olimpia, Royer ended his league goal-drought with his first of the season.
  • Valot and Kaku raised their career league goal totals to two, respectively.
