Current Liga MX, Categoria Primera A Champions to meet in "SuperCopa de Campeones"


HARRISON, N.J. (July 28, 2017) – Red Bull Arena will host Chivas de Guadalajara (Mexico) and Atletico Nacional (Colombia) for an international club friendly on September 3 at 5 p.m. ET, as announced today by SPD Sports. The event will be called the SuperCopa de Campeones, as both clubs are the reigning champions of their respective leagues.


Tickets to the match will go on-sale on August 1 at 10 a.m., and can be purchased online via Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.


New York Red Bulls Red Members will have access to an exclusive presale beginning Monday, July 31 at 10 a.m.


Fans are encouraged to arrive early to take part in the SPD Interactive Fan Zone, which opens at noon. The fan zone will feature games, food, and music in the lead up to the match.


Both clubs have enjoyed success, both historically and recently. Atletico Nacional’s 2017 league title was their 16th in club history. The club has won the Copa Colombia three times since 2012, and captured the Copa Libertadores title in 2016.


Chivas de Guadalajara won both the Primera Division and Copa MX Clausuras in 2017. The club has won the Primera Division 12 times since the 1950s, and captured the SuperCopa MX title in 2016.
