U.S. Soccer has announced the format, schedule, and participating teams for the 111th edition of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Red Bull New York will be participating in the tournament for the 27th time in franchise history.
Participating MLS teams will enter the tournament in the Round of 32, which is set to take place on Tuesday, April 14 or Wednesday, April 15. New York have been selected as one of the eight MLS teams that will be seeded at home in the Round of 32. The schedule for the 2026 edition of the tournament can be found below:

- First Round: Tuesday, March 17 – Thursday, March 19
- Second Round: Tuesday, March 31 – Wednesday, April 1
- Round of 32: Tuesday, April 14 – Wednesday, April 15
- Round of 16: Tuesday, April 28 – Wednesday, April 29
- Quarterfinals: Tuesday, May 19 – Wednesday, May 20
- Semifinals: Tuesday, Sept. 15 – Wednesday, Sept. 16
- Final: Wednesday, October 21
New York have posted a 28-23-4 mark in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, where they have reached the semifinals six times and the final twice. RBNY made it to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup, after defeating Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in the Round of 32, and then defeating FC Dallas at Sports Illustrated Stadium in a penalty shootout in the Round of 16.
The U.S. Open Cup format will feature seven rounds this year, one fewer than recent editions, to avoid overlap with the FIFA Men’s World Cup calendar. First Round and Second Round draws will be announced by U.S. Soccer in January and the draw for the Round of 32 will be held on Tuesday, April 2.
