Red Bull New York have traded midfielder Peter Stroud to Minnesota United FC, the club announced today. New York receives $475,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money and will retain a percentage of sell-on rights.
“We want to thank Peter for everything he’s given to the club,” said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. “He’s been a true professional from day one and we wish nothing but success as he takes this next step in his career.”
Stroud, 23, played three seasons for the Red Bulls after joining the club on January 14, 2023, as a homegrown. He made 66 career MLS appearances, where he tallied four assists. This past season, Stroud made 27 MLS appearances and tallied three assists. He recorded his first career MLS assist on October 5, 2024, against Atlanta United FC. Stroud played in four matches during the Audi 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs to help New York lift their first Eastern Conference Championship.
Prior to joining the club, Stroud was a three-year starter at Duke University, where he made 55 appearances and recorded six goals and 12 assists. He was named the ACC Midfielder of the Year twice and was the first player in ACC history to win it in back-to-back years. Stroud was also named a MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist during his last season with the Blue Devils. The Chester, N.J. native earned All-ACC First Team honors twice and was named Duke’s Team MVP for the 2020 season.
