HARRISON, N.J. (August 12, 2026) – Red Bull New York have transferred midfielder Gustav Berggren to Polish Ekstraklasa side Lech Poznań for an undisclosed transfer fee, the club announced today.
"We want to thank Gustav for his professionalism and commitment during his time with our club," said Head of Sport Julian de Guzman. "He has been a great teammate and person to have within our organization, and we wish him and his family nothing but success in the next chapter of his career."
Berggren, 28, has been with the Red Bulls for two seasons after joining on July 23, 2025. He made 17 MLS appearances for the club, where he tallied two assists. The midfielder recorded his first career MLS assist against the Columbus Crew on October 18, 2025. Prior to arriving in New York, the Swedish midfielder made 105 appearances across all competitions for Raków Czestochowa helping the club capture its first-ever Ekstraklasa title and earning the club's Team MVP honors during the 2024 campaign.
The Goteborg, Sweden native also brought extensive experience from Sweden, where he made more than 150 appearances for BK Häcken and helped the club win the 2022 Allsvenskan title and also the Swedish Super Cup in 2016 He has represented Sweden at both the youth and senior international levels, earning his first senior national team cap in 2020.
