Red Bulls Acquire Aaron Long on loan from NYRB II

HARRISON, N.J. (September 16, 2016) – The New York Red Bulls have acquired center back Aaron Long on loan from New York Red Bulls II through the end of the year, the club announced today. Long will be available to play for both the first team and NYRB II for the duration of the loan period. 


Long, a native of Oak Hills, Calif., joined the Red Bulls as a trialist for the 2016 preseason and eventually signed a contract with New York Red Bulls II, the club's USL affiliate. 


The 23-year-old has made 22 appearances for NYRB II as part of a defense that has kept 15 clean sheets and allowed a league-low 20 goals in 28 game this season.


Long has also appeared for the first team in CONCACAF Champions League this Summer. He previously spent time with the Seattle Sounders organization, and was originally drafted by the Portland Timbers out of UC Riverside.


The Red Bulls face Toronto FC on the road this weekend in a matchup of the Eastern Conference’s top two teams. Kickoff on Sunday, September 18 is set for 5 p.m. with coverage on FOX in the New York area and select cities across the country, as well as Fox Sports Go and Red Bulls Radio.
