Red Bulls Aim to Build Playoff Momentum Against Atlanta

The New York Red Bulls look to continue their winning ways in the final home match of the regular season against potential playoff opponent, Atlanta United FC.

For the Red Bulls, a familiar rallying cry has been revived within the group as New York prepares for its Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs campaign.

“Going forward I think the group has a certain chip on their shoulder,” Sean Davis said. “We’re really looking forward to this match. We don’t want to take our foot off the gas at all and we want to continue to gain momentum heading into the playoffs.”

Taking three points on Sunday will be a tough task against a red-hot Atlanta team, who’s unbeaten in eight of their last 10 games (5-2-3).

“We have a very important match this weekend and we’re going up against a team that’s been very good this season,” Luis Robles said. “Preparation this week has been sharp and we know that we want to get three points and we want to get some momentum going.”

With two games remaining this season and playoff berth clinched, captain Sacha Kljestan knows the remaining regular season games serve a higher purpose, including higher seeding in the playoffs.

“Not only just momentum, but also try to gather as many points as possible in the event we make MLS Cup and hopefully still have the chance to host a final,” Kljestan said. “It’s nice always to play at home towards the end of the season to thank the fans for the entire year so hoping for a good atmosphere in the stadium on Sunday and hopefully putting away a good result in our last home game of the regular season.”
