Red Bulls dominate Audi Player Index after rout vs. NYCFC

After the Red Bulls’ victory over NYCFC last Saturday, the results from the Audi Player Index have arrived, and once again, Red Bull players dominated the field.  Eight of the top-nine players on the Audi Player Index from Saturday’s match were Red Bull players and as a team, the Red Bulls scored 7760 to just 878 for NYCFC.

Bradley Wright-Phillips topped the list with a score of 1675 after scoring two first-half goals and assisting on Alex Muyl’s first MLS goal in the 56th minute that put RBNY up by five.  The striker’s score of 1675 was the highest single game Audi Player Index score of the weekend’s games

Three players, Bradley Wright-Phillips,  Sacha Kljestan, and Dax McCarty, each outscored the entire NYC FC team.  Kljestan totaled a score of 1306 after assisting on both of McCarty’s goals, which both came off of corner kicks.  The captain finished just behind with 1122 points after scoring with his head in the third minute and adding his second of the day six minutes in to the second half.

Gonzalo Veron, who came into the game in the 66th minute for Bradley Wright-Phillips, scored 616 points after scoring his first the season in the 83rd minute from a beautiful service from Felipe off of a free kick to put the Red Bulls up by six.

Muyl rounds out the top-five with a score of 589 points.  Muyl scored his first career MLS goal in the 56th minute, coming on as a substitute just minutes before for Mike Grella in the 54th minute.  The 20-year-old forward coolly slotted his shot into the upper corner of the goal on a feed from Wright-Phillips.
