HARRISON, NJ (Jan. 16, 2014) – The 2013 MLS Supporters’ Shield-winning New York Red Bulls selected defender Chris Duvall from Wake Forest University (22nd overall) and midfielder Eric Stevenson from the University of Akron (34th overall) in today’s 2014 MLS SuperDraft at the Philadelphia Convention Center in Philadelphia, PA.
Duvall was at Wake Forest for four seasons. In 2013, Duvall, mainly featuring as a right back, played in 14 games for Wake Forest and recorded three assists. In 2012, Duvall played more minutes than any other player on the Wake Forest roster (20) and made 18 starts. He recorded 1,637 minutes on the field with one goal and three assists. During his freshman season at Wake Forest, Duvall appeared in every game, including 16 starts, and led the team in assists with four.
Chris Duvall Highlights:
During the 2013 season, Stevenson played in 22 games, making 21 starts for Akron. He finished the season with five goals and five assists. Stevenson was an All-Great Lakes Region Third Team honoree and also earned All-MAC First Team honors. In 2012, he was named to the All-MAC Second Team after starting all 22 matches for Akron. Stevenson enjoyed a breakout season, scoring seven goals, recording five assists, and finishing third on the team in points with 19.
