HARRISON, NJ (December 10) – The New York Red Bulls announced today that the club has traded defender Jamison Olave to Real Salt Lake in exchange for allocation money. Per club and league policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Olave, who spent the past two seasons with the Red Bulls, made 57 appearances (55 starts) at center back while scoring four goals and adding one assist. Olave returns to Salt Lake after beginning his MLS career with them in 2008.

“This was a difficult decision for the club but was made mainly due to salary cap considerations,” said Sporting Director Andy Roxburgh. “It’s disappointing to see a player like Jamison leave the club, but we want to thank him for his service to the New York Red Bulls and we wish him all the best on his return to his previous club.”

The center back spent five seasons with Real Salt Lake before joining the Red Bulls for the 2013 season where he made 120 appearances (119 starts), scoring 10 goals and recording two assists.
