Ryan Meara to Start All U.S. Open Cup Games

Ryan Meara

Ryan Meara will start every 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup game in goal for the New York Red Bulls, Head Coach Jesse Marsch confirmed.

"Ryan is in for the Open Cup," Marsch said. "He's in for the whole tournament."

Meara turned in a clean sheet in the Fourth Round of the Open Cup as part of a 4-0 defeat of New York City FC.

Meara started every game of the 2017 Open Cup campaign that took the Red Bulls all the way to the Final against Sporting Kansas City.

The Red Bulls' keeper has also started three MLS matches in 2018, allowing three goals over 270 minutes, with 12 total saves and one clean sheet.

Meara and New York will face the Philadelphia Union, in Pennsylvania, on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. in the Open Cup Round of 16.
