House Concurrent Resolution 327 -- introduced on Sept. 29, 2010 by representatives Chris Van Hollen (MD), Dave Reichert (WA), George Miller (CA) and Mary Bono Mack (CA) -- flew through the upper chamber of Congress.

The bill resolves to support the US Bid Committee's efforts, encourage federal agencies to assist the process, and affirm "that the Congress stands prepared to consider requests by the President for support related to the 2022 FIFA World Cup."

With full support from the Congress, the US will make their presentation to the FIFA Executive Comittee to host the 2022 World Cup on Dec. 1. Voting to award the tournament will take place Dec. 2.
