Sports Illustrated Stadium has been named a finalist in KultureCity’s 2026 Human Highlights Awards.
The Stadium, home to Red Bull New York of Major League Soccer and NY/NJ Gotham FC of National Women’s Soccer League, are nominated in the Sports/Multipurpose category. Sports Illustrated Stadium features a newly-updated Altec Lansing Sensory Room, completed in partnership with the speaker, headphone and electronics brand, was designed with full input from KultureCity, the world’s leading nonprofit on sensory accessibility and acceptance.
Every year, Red Bull New York hosts an Autism Acceptance Match, where the club makes changes to their normal matchday experience to better accommodate fans on the autism spectrum, with sensory-friendly features like sensory sacks (including fidget toys and visual cue cards) lowered music volume and an additional quiet zone on the plaza level at Sports Illustrated Stadium. Sensory Sacks are available at all RBNY matches.
Opened in 2017 as one of the first Sensory Rooms at a major sporting venue, families and fans do not need a special ticket to the games. All fans need to do is approach Fan Services and they will assist you to reach the Altec Lansing Sensory Room on the 5th Floor.
The KultureCity Human Highlight Awards are “the pre-eminent awards and symbol of recognition of those that have done amazing things in the disability space and beyond.”
The awards honor venues, businesses and locations that have not only made the world better for those with disabilities, but also made accessibility and inclusion the fore front of their company’s mission, according to the organization.
