Head Coach Michael Bradley leads his Red Bull New York team into the first New York Derby of the season, this one coming in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

John McCarthy starts in goal for New York, taking the reins for the Cup competition.Â
New York have posted a 5-0-0 mark against NYCFC in elimination matches, which includes a 3-0-0 mark in the U.S. Open Cup, with all of those matches being won at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Dylan Nealis, Robert Voloder, Matthew Dos Santos and Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty all get the nod to start along the backline.
Julian Hall, Jorge Ruvalcaba and Cade Cowell look to push the attack.
In the five-career elimination matches against NYCFC, New York have outscored their rivals, 11-0, in those matches. The Red Bulls have posted an 11-0-4 mark in U.S. Open Cup matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
Emil Forsberg captains the side, with Ronald Donkor and Adri Mehmeti ready control the central midfield.
Forsberg has recorded four goal contributions in his last three matches at Sports Illustrated Stadium, which includes a goal and an assist in New York’s 3-1 win over the Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in Round of 32 of the Open Cup. The midfielder has made four career appearances in the Open Cup, and has recorded two goals and one assist.
Off the bench, Bradley will have Nehuen Benedetti, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Juan Mina, Rafael Mosquera, Tim Parker and Mohammed Sofo available. Ethan Horvath will be the backup goalkeeper.
