Head Coach Michael Bradley and Red Bull New York begin their run in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup with the Round of 32 vs. Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC.
Nehuen Benedetti enters the lineup for RBNY, joined in the attack by Rafael Mosquera and Mohammed Sofo, with Emil Forsberg captaining the side. Julian Hall starts, as well.
This will be the club’s first-ever meeting against Pittsburgh, who are the defending USL Championship winners. The Riverhounds currently rank eighth in the Eastern Conference of USL Championship with a 2-3-1 mark.
John McCarthy gets the start in goal.
Adri Mehmeti looks to control the central midfield, with Gustav Berggren, Matthew Dos Santos, Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty and Robert Voloder rounding out the starting group.
Mehmeti scored his first MLS goal of the season in New York’s 2-2 draw against Inter Miami CF on April 11. The Staten Island, N.Y. native has recorded three goal contributions in seven MLS matches this season.
Bradley will have Cade Cowell, Ronald Donkor, Roald Mitchell, Tim Parker, Jorge Ruvalcaba and Omar Valencia available off the bench. Ethan Horvath will serve as the backup goalkeeper.
