Get to know who the Red Bulls will be playing in their upcoming matchup:

How They’re Doing

After a disappointing 2022 season, where the Dynamo sputtered to a a 13th place finish in the Western Conference, there is hope for a new dawn in Houston under new manager Ben Olsen.

Those hopes were tempered, though, after the Dynamo began 2023 with consecutive losses. Clean sheet wins against Austin FC, NYCFC, and LA Galaxy have sparked those hopes for Houston, who currently sit in a playoff place.

All three of those wins, though, have come at home. They have yet to register a single point on the road this season.

Head-to-Head History

Since the first meeting between the two clubs in 2006, New York has had a notable edge in the head-to-head series.

In 30 previous matches, the Red Bulls own a 13-7-10 record against the Dynamo. In the last six matches, the two clubs have split the results, with each alternating wins.

New York is undefeated in the regular season against Houston at home, with the only loss in club history coming in the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs.

The last matchup came in 2019, a 4-0 home win for the Dynamo.

Player to Watch- Forward Amine Bassi

After arriving in Houston in the offseason from French side FC Metz, Bassi has been a revelation for the Dynamo attack.

In five appearances for Houston so far this season, Bassi has totaled five goals in only 352 total minutes. He has started the last four matches for Houston and has scored in each of them, including two goals in his last start against LA Galaxy on Saturday.

Before coming to MLS, Bassi spent time playing in the French and English leagues, totaling 29 goals and 22 assists in 151 total appearances.

He has been a proven goalscorer for Houston, something they desperately missed in a disastrous 2022 season, and will be a name to watch for the Dynamo at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.
