Get to know who the Red Bulls will be playing in their upcoming match with The Other Side:

How They’re Doing:

The New England Revolution has been a mainstay at the top of the Eastern Conference standings, currently holding second place as they take a break from the MLS regular season to begin the 2023 Leagues Cup.

Since its last match with the Red Bulls, the Revolution put up two big wins, beating Eastern powerhouse Atlanta United FC 2-1 and exerting a dominant 4-0 win over D.C. United on Saturday.

With Saturday’s performance, three New England players were named to Team of the Matchday 26, including midfielders Ian Harkes and Carles Gil, and goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic.

Gil and Petrovic also traveled to Washington, D.C. for the MLS All-Star game on Wednesday.

Boasting a record of 12-4-7 overall, New England is tied for third in the league with 42 goals scored.

New England is unbeaten in nine of its last 10 matches, only losing to New York on July 8th.

Head-to-Head History

In their last meeting, the New York Red Bulls took a dramatic 2-1 win at home over New England after a stoppage-time equalizer by the Revolution was overturned.

With the intensity of the match, there will surely be unfinished business between the two sides as New England takes another trip to Harrison for the Leagues Cup.

While holding the advantage in its 40-35-20 record with New York, New England has a record of 12-27-10 when playing the Red Bulls at their home stadium.

Saturday will mark the second time the Red Bulls have faced the Revolution in the past two weeks.

Player to watch: Carles Gil

After missing New England’s last match with New York due to yellow card accumulation, the Revolution’s captain will be in Harrison on Saturday to open the Leagues Cup action.

A 2023 MLS All-Star, Gil leads the league with 12 assists and ranks second in goal contributions.

Gil and teammate Bobby Wood each lead New England with seven goals scored each this season.

Contributing to two of New England’s goals against D.C., Gil earned himself Team of the Matchday honors, his sixth time this season. He also recorded three assists in New England’s last two matches.

A leader who consistently creates chances and gets results for the Revolution, Gil will be one to watch in Saturday’s matchup.
