OLDSMAR, FL (January 22, 2018) – Two players joined the New York Red Bulls as trialists for the start of preseason camp in Oldsmar, Florida today. Midfielder Ismaila Jome and Red Bulls Academy Product Kyle Duncan were both new faces as the Red Bulls took the field for their first training sessions this afternoon.
Jome, 23, was born in Banjul, Gambia but grew up in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He joined Minnesota United FC in 2016, and was part of the Loons inaugural MLS season, making 12 appearances in MLS. The 6-1, 160 lb midfielder was deployed mainly as a winger during his time in Minnesota.
Jome played three seasons at UC Santa Barbara, scoring five goals and adding 15 assists in 56 appearances.
Duncan, who hails from Brooklyn, N.Y., was part of the Red Bulls Academy before earning a spot with Valenciennes in France’s Ligue 2. The 20-year-old right back spent two years in France and has also appeared for the United States U-18 and U-20 teams.
The Red Bulls traveled to Oldsmar on Monday for the first of two preseason camps. New York will train in the St. Pete/Clearwater area through February 3, with matches lined up against University of South Florida, New England Revolution and the Philadelphia Union.
