Red Bulls’ Homegrown Gets Game-Winner against Mexico

NASHVILLE (September 11, 2018) – New York Red Bulls Homegrown midfielder Tyler Adams scored his first goal for the U.S. Men’s National Team on Tuesday to lead the USMNT to victory over Mexico at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

Adams, 19, made a run from the midfield and finished a low cross from Antonee Robinson for his first goal in the U.S. shirt. The Wappingers’ Falls native earned his first senior call up and cap last November, and has now represented the United States in its last seven matches.

Adams began with the Red Bulls Regional Development School as an Under-12 player. In 2015 he became the first player to progress from RDS through the academy system to a professional contract, signing with NYRB II at 16. Adams has made 66 appearances for the Red Bulls across all competitions, with three goals and four assists.

Alongside Adams, Red Bulls Academy products Matt Miazga (Chelsea FC/Nantes) and Timothy Weah (Paris Saint-Germain) were also in the USMNT Starting XI. Current Red Bull Tim Parker was on the bench for the match, while Aaron Long was also called into camp for the USMNT.
