HARRISON, N.J. (June 18, 2025) – Red Bulls Academy U-14s take first place in second annual Metro Cup at Red Bulls Training Facility.
The U-14s went undefeated through group play. They opened with a 1-1 draw against NYCFC. Shortly after they defeated Philadelphia Union 2-1.
On Day 2, the squad completed group play with a 3-1 win over CF Montreal. This victory clinched the U-14s a spot in the final.
After drawing NYCFC in the opening match, New York had a chance of redemption in the championship match. The side earned a convincing 3-1 victory over the Hudson River Derby rivals to win the 2025 Metro Cup Title.
“Really proud of the group. Not just for winning the Metro Cup, but for how they handled themselves throughout the tournament.” Says Head Coach London Woodberry, “Each game challenged us in different ways, and I thought we grew stronger with every performance. Credit to the players for showing maturity in key moments and for trusting the process we've been building all season. This result feels like a reflection of that work and another step in their development as they continue through the academy and prepare for the next age group.”
Last year, the current U-14 group won the U-13 bracket of the 2024 Metro Cup. The side have won back-to-back Metro Cup titles.
