HARRISON, N.J. (February 20, 2026) – U-18 Red Bulls Academy Defender Alex Gomez has received a call up to the U-17 Colombia National Team for two friendly matches  in Barranquilla, Colombia.
Gomez has featured for the Red Bulls Academy at the U-15, U-16, and U-18 levels. He was a member of the 2023 U-15 MLS NEXT Cup winning side.Â
The 16-year-old defender has recently appeared in two of Red Bull New York II’s preseason friendly matches against Hartford Athletic and FC Supra.Â
This is Gomez’s first youth international call up for Colombia. He has made six appearances for U-15 USYNT. The New Jersey native made his debut in an international friendly against U-15 Portugal on November 20, 2023 when he captained the side to a 2-1 victory. The defender scored his first career youth international goal for the U-15 USYNT against U-15 England on May 16, 2024.
Gomez and Colombia reported to camp at FCF Sports Venue on February 18 and will stay until February 28. They will play the first of two matches against U-17 Brazil on Tuesday, February 24 at 6:30 p.m. ET. The second match will be on Friday, February 27 at 5 p.m. ET. Both matches will be played at FCF Sports Venue.
