ROCHESTER, N.Y. (September 10, 2016) – 2016 USL Regular Season Champions New York Red Bulls II salvaged a point in the final minutes against Rochester Rhinos, 1-1. Vincent Bezecourt’s 89th minute free kick goal leveled the match to give New York the road point.

The draw improves New York to 19-3-6 on the season and a league-record 63 points, which broke Orlando City SC’s 2014 mark of 62 points. New York is also approaching the league’s single-season scoring record with 55 goals, which trails Orlando’s 2014 record of 56 goals.

Although the tie ends the club’s seven-game winning streak, NYRB II is unbeaten in eight consecutive games (7-0-1). New York is 12-1-2 on the road this season and unbeaten in their last five road games (4-0-1).

Following a scoreless first half, Rochester broke the deadlock in the 58th minute thanks to Asani Samuels. The Rhinos’ goal ended a span of 688 consecutive minutes that NYRB II has not trailed in a match.

It appeared as if Rochester would break up New York’s impressive road form, until Bezecourt stepped up and buried a 25-yard free kick into the top-left corner of the goal to tie game in the 89th minute. The goal is his fifth of the season and third in two matches.

Red Bulls II returns to Red Bull Arena next week for the club’s final regular season home game on Saturday, Sept. 17 against FC Montreal. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
