'We're Excited To Get Back Home'

Sccl 2018 Only Halftime

It's only halftime for the New York Red Bulls in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League Semifinals.

The Red Bulls fell in Leg 1, by a score of 1-0, to C.D. Guadalajara in Mexico on Wednesday night. Leg 2 kicks off at Red Bull Arena on April 10 at 8 p.m. ET.

"One play isn't going to make the series for us," Sean Davis said following the match. "We're confident that we can compete at home. We're excited to get back home."

New York was held scoreless for the first time in the tournament. The Red Bulls had scored at least one goal through the first four matches of SCCL play.

New York will have to win Leg 2 without Alex Muyl and Aurelien Collin, who are both suspended for the next match following yellow cards in Wednesday's match.

"We're in a decent position to go back to Red Bull Arena, in front of our fans, and get a good result," Captain Luis Robles said.

The Red Bulls were dealt their first loss of the SCCL tournament, having held a 3-0-1 mark prior to the match.

"Now the responsibility falls on us to go back to our place and do everything we can to find a way to emerge," Marsch said. "It will take everything we have. It will take a great performance. It will take us being on top of all the little things all the details because if you give up one goal, we'll make it very difficult on ourselves.

"We’ll regroup, we’ll recharge and we’ll be ready for Leg 2," the head coach said.
