Wolyniec: 'This is Just a Bump in the Road'

New York Red Bulls II suffered their second straight loss against North Carolina FC on Friday night. This is first-time the club has lost two consecutive contests since July 15, 2017.

“I think we have had a little bit of a hangover in that sense, you could see that maybe we did not have the same fight that we have had over the first run of games,” head coach John Wolyniec said.

Despite the results, Wolyniec believes that the team is taking the right steps. “I still think we are moving along, and this is just a bump in the road, and we are going to learn from it, and we are going to be better.”

NYRB II still sit in third in the Eastern Conference and will have a chance to end their losing streak in front of their home fans on Friday, May 31 against Bethlehem Steel FC.

“We have to learn to bring a bit more fight and energy. They always bring a little extra for local rivals, so it is going to be a good game for us to be ready,” Wolyniec said.

Bethlehem Steel FC have not been at their best as of late, their last win came against the Charleston Battery on April 13.

“We’ve got to figure out how to straighten things out and level things out and keep pushing it forward,” Wolyniec said.
