New York Red Bulls II find themselves in search of their first road win of the season as they head to Tampa Bay, Florida for a match with the Rowdies at Al Lang Stadium Saturday.

Despite carrying an 0-4-6 record on the road, NYRB II head coach John Wolyniec wants his team to take heart from their recent performance in Cincinnati to serve as a launching point going forward to start to rack up road results.

“Even though we lost against Cincinnati on the road, I thought it was one of our best performances on the road,” Wolyniec said. “I thought we played really well and did a lot of good things throughout that game so I think, I’m hoping, and I believe we took steps in that Cincinnati game despite the result, and hopefully we see that this weekend.”

Goalkeeper Evan Louro, star of NYRB II’s 2017 USL Playoff Semifinal upset over Tampa Bay, concurs with Woly in regards to having the same mentality no matter where the USL side travels to.

“I think coming off Cincinnati, we did a lot of good things,” Louro said. “Obviously, some things to learn from, but I think we’ve gone back, looked at the video, and had a good week of training so it’ll be fun to put them into play against Tampa, who everybody in the league knows is a very good attacking team.”

As NYRB II looks to build off their recent performance in Cincinnati, Woly hope’s the teams’ mentality will be to breakthrough and pick up their first road win.

“Yeah, certainly even though it’s a road game, we want to go after it,” Wolyniec said. “We’re going down there to get three points for sure. Hopefully, that mentality is seeping into the team, you know that’s how we try to treat these games as much as possible.”
