YEAR IN REVIEW: Derrick Etienne, Jr.

2017 marked another developing year for forward Derrick Etienne, Jr. both domestically and internationally.
The Red Bulls academy product notched 18 appearances for the first team this MLS regular season along with one appearance as a substitute in the Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.
Etienne also earned his first MLS start on March 11 against the Colorado Rapids in the Red Bulls home opener, the first of eight on the year. Etienne Jr. featured in 712 minutes for the Red Bulls across the MLS regular season and Audi 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs.

While earning two assists on the year, the Homegrown player got himself a few call ups to the Haitian Men’s National Team this calendar year. In January, Etienne Jr. scored his first career international goal for Haiti in a match against Trinidad & Tobago. Etienne Jr.’s goal helped earn Haiti a place in the Gold Cup Playoffs.

The Red Bulls forward earned yet another cap on October 10 when he started for Haiti as they took on Japan in an international friendly, and again in November against the United Arab Emirates.
