With an influx of acquisitions, draft picks and trialists, the New York Red Bulls are looking to their veterans beyond Bradley Wright-Phillips and Luis Robles to help steer the ship.
Head Coach Jesse Marsch said that players like Sean Davis, Daniel Royer and Aaron Long will continue to "establish themselves as good pros and as a big part of the team."
"I think I’m at that threshold where I’m considered old," Davis, 24, said. "I’m growing up a little bit. I’m an older guy. I’m a vet."
Davis said that new additions have already shown "their willingness to learn."
"They have that fearlessness that we talk a lot about," Davis said.
Marsch said that he'll continue to challenge the team, as he pushes certain players to commit more and more.
"It’s a natural part of the progression and maturation for some of these guys," Marsch said. "They’re ready for it."
