“Cruzeiro is one of the elite clubs in Brazilian soccer and we are excited to host them at Red Bull Arena,” said Red Bull New York Managing Director Erik Stover. “Adding Cruzeiro to our summer schedule further emphasizes our commitment to bringing quality sides to Red Bull Arena. Our team is excited to play them in preparation for the second half of the season."

Cruzeiro is one of the most successful clubs from the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, winning the Campeonato Mineiro 36 times in their history. Cruzeiro also won the Brazilian Serie A championship in 2003, and has four Copa do Brazil championships. Cruzeiro became the first Brazilian club to ever win the “Triple Crown”, when they won the Brazilian Serie A, Copa do Brazil, and their regional championship all in the same season in 2003.

Cruzeiro also has an illustrious history in international competition. They are one of just eight clubs in the CONMEBOL region to achieve the CONMEBOL treble, winning the Copa Libertadores, Supercopa Sudamericana, and the Recopa Sudamericana at least once throughout their history.  Cruzeiro features many excellent Brazilian players including goalkeeper Fabio, forward Kleber, midfielder and former Brazilian international Gilberto, and defender and current club captain Leonardo Silva. Cruzeiro is managed by Adilson Batista.
