Red Bulls Academy Update: June 21

A LOOK BACK:
U23s:
The U23 Red Bulls opened a National Premier Soccer League doubleheader weekend with a 4-0 win at New York Athletic Club on Saturday, June 19. The U23s tallied four second half goals to remain undefeated in the NPSL Season. The goals were scored by Kadeem Dacres (Rosedale, NY), John Tardy (Staten Island, NY), Matt Bouraee (Manasquan, NJ) and Rob McLarney (Londonderry, NH). Michael O'Keefe (Christchurch, NZ) went the distance in goal  to earn the shutout.

Lineup: O'Keefe, Garcia (Reed), Hot, Vazquez (McLarney), Lade, Uy (Morris), Holder, Amaya (Blacido), Tardy (Rios), Bouraee (Freeman), Dacres (Gabrielle).

The U23s won their fifth consecutive match, all on the road, to improve their NPSL record to 8-0-1, following a 5-1 win over Morris Colonials on Sunday, June 20.  A Tardy hat trick led the way for the Red Bulls.  Bouraee scored his ninth goal in nine games this season and Mario Rios (Morristown, NJ) recorded his 10th assist in nine games.  Adriano Gabrielle (North Babylon, NY) rounded out the scoring on an assist from Andrew Welker (Mechanicsburg, PA). 

“It was a long week with five games on the road but the guys responded well, said head coach Rob Elliott.  “We scored 20 goals this week and only gave up four.  Our guys have earned a few days off before we get back at it.”

U18s:  The Red Bulls U18s did not play last week as the side prepares for the USDL playoffs.

U16s:  The Red Bulls U16s did not play last week.

U14 Pre-Academy:  The U14 Pre-Academy Red Bulls defeated U14 FC Westchester, 4-0, on Saturday, June 19 in Northeast Pre-Academy League play.  The Red Bulls started the game well and Amando Moreno (Perth Amboy, NJ) opened the scoring when he blasted and 18-yard shot in the upper corner.

After halftime the U14s continued to create chances.  Karl Cesar (Glen Oaks, NY) a great game, scoring two goals and central defender Kaz Boschen (Hastings, NY) scored a header to give the Red Bulls the win. Evan Louro (South River, NJ) saved a FC Westchester penalty kick on the way to earning the clean sheet.

“It’s important to get contributions from different players each game. As a team, we continue to play good soccer,” said U14 head coach Jeff Zaun.

U14 1996:  The U14 1996 Red Bulls did not play last week.
