Cummings wins AT&T Goal of the Week

Omar Cummings (right) has won the AT&T Goal of the Week for Matchday 24, the first such award for a Rapids player this season.

On a day when most people thought Thierry Henry stole the show with a fancy finish for the second goal of his MLS career, it was red-hot Colorado Rapids stiker Omar Cummings who actually won the fans' hearts with a display of his own.

Cummings' left-footed strike from 35 yards out against the New York Red Bulls last Saturday was voted the AT&T Goal of the Week for Matchday 24, giving the Rapids their first such award of the season. The goal was the ninth of the season for Cummings and his fourth in the Rapids' last three games as they continue their push to reach the postseason.

Cummings garnered nearly 47 percent of the vote, topping Henry's nifty give-and-go finish with midfielder Joel Lindpere, which earned roughly 41.5 percent. Goals by New York's Tim Ream, LA's Dema Kovalenko and Chivas USA's Justin Braun rounded out the field, each with less than six percent of the vote.
