U18s:  The U18 Red Bulls played some impressive soccer in defeating a U23 Liberian Select team from Philadelphia, by a score of 5-0, on Sunday, September 19. The Red Bulls got on the scoreboard in the 28th minute when Brandon Allen finished from a tight angle from a Juan Agudelo assist. In the 40th minute the roles were reversed when Agudelo slotted home from a neat Allen pass. In the second half the Red Bulls continued with their fine offensive display. Matt Bouraee slammed the ball home from Allen’s second assist of the game in the 61st minute. Four minutes later, Kyle McCord scored his first goal as a member of the Red Bulls when he tapped in from some fine work from Bouraee. The Red Bulls completed the scoring when trialist Papa Diop scored in the 89th minute from a cross from Oscar Gonzalez.

“We played some really attractive, attacking, flowing soccer at times today. When we kept the ball moving things really began to open up for us offensively. Also, defensively today our center back pairing of Richmond McCarthy and Kyle Roach were outstanding,” stated U18 head coach Paul O’Donnell.

Lineup: Santiago Castano (Rafal Krauze 63’), Antonio Matarazzo, Kyle Roach, Richmond McCarthy, Mark Nicholas (Edison Sanchez 63’), Kyle McCord (Damian Bziukiewicz 83’), Sean Davis (Derek Alarcon 68’), Dan Metzger (Giorgi Mandzulashvili 68’), Christian Johnson (Papa Diop 55’), Juan Agudelo (Matt Bouraee 52’), Brandon Allen (Oscar Gonzalez 72’).
Subs not used: none
Goals (Assists): Allen 28’ (Agudelo), Agudelo 40’ (Allen), Bouraee 61’ (Allen), McCord 65’ (Bouraee), Diop 89’ (Gonzalez).

1996 Pre-Academy:  The 1996 Pre-Academy Red Bulls did not play last week.

U14 1996:  The U14 1996 Red Bulls did not play last week.

1997 Pre-Academy:  The U13 Pre-Academy team tied U13 PDA, 2-2, in their first game of the season on Sunday September 19 at Rutgers-Newark. The Red Bulls took the lead after Anthony Sileo latched onto a defensive mistake and rounded the PDA keeper. PDA equalized on a rebound after Red Bulls goalkeeper Tom Lapinas could only parry the ball. Shortly before halftime Orestis Sousonis was bought down in the penalty box. Sousonis stepped up himself and slotted the ball home to give Red Bulls the lead again. PDA scored a second goal midway through the 2nd stanza to pull even and provide the final score.

“It was a good game with a lot of goals and chances for both teams. The game was back and forth, with us having good moments of possession and missing clear chances to score.  They had good moments as well and definitely the physical part was an issue for us,” said head coach Antonio Meza..
