FC Red Bull Salzburg
Coming off a two-match winning streak, the Red Bulls rallied from a two-goal halftime deficit to salvage the draw and a point against SV Josko Ried to remain tied for third place.
The Red Bulls conceded both first half goals on corner kick headers, but leveled the score in a three-minute span in the second, with Roman Wallner slotting away a penalty kick for the equalizer and his 12th goal of the year.
Having overcome a two-goal deficit for the first time this season, Red Bull Salzburg posted its league-leading ninth draw of the season to go with its league-leading fewest losses (five). The single point gained from the match allows the Red Bulls to retain their share of third place and remain only three points out of a tie for first.
The Red Bulls (11-5-9) host FK Austria Wien, which is tied for the league lead, in Red Bull Arena on Sunday, March 20. A win pulls them into a tie with Wien, which will place them no worse than second in the league and possibly a three- or four-way tie for first.
Red Bull Brasil
The Red Bulls experienced a week of mixed feelings, salvaging a draw in the final five minutes after falling behind by two goals to last-place Rio Branco; scores by Alex Rafael and Nunes in a two-minute span pulled Red Bull Brasil level and allowed the club to retain its position in fifth place.
The week nearly ended on a season-high note, but RB Brasil ultimately fell to league-leading São José, 3-2, on a phantom goal, as television cameras apparently showed that a ball ruled a goal never crossed the line in first half stoppage time. São José started the game off with a tally in the first minute. Dao drew the Red Bulls even at 2-2 following the apparent refereeing blunder, but São José managed a third and decisive strike late.
The defeat was RB Brasil’s first in its last seven matches and all but locked them into the middle of the table, as the Red Bulls sit six points behind fourth place and seven clear of seventh, with only one separating them from sixth.
The Red Bulls (6-6-3)will be looking to gain the maximum six points from their next two matches, hosting fourth-place Guarani on March 20 and tied-eight-place Palmeiras B on March 22, as they continue their quest to break into the Top 4 and gain qualification into the next stage of the A-2 Series of the Paulista League.
RB Leipzig
The Red Bulls stretched their unbeaten streak to four matches this week, following last week’s duo of wins with two draws against lower-half squads in TSV Havelse (17th), 0-0, and SV Wilhelmshaven (tied-12th), 1-1.
Red Bell Leipzig has pushed its way comfortably into the Top 5 and is within striking distance of second, place, with VfB Lübek and VfL Wolfsburg II tied at second with 47 points, only three ahead of Leipzig, which stands two above Hallescher FC (although Leipzig has played one more match than its three superiors).
The Red Bulls (12-4-8) will try to extend their unbeaten streak further in grabbing another three points on March 18 as they host 15th-place FC Oberneuland.
Red Bull Ghana
The Red Bulls faced heavyweight King Solomon in their first match of the second round of the Division One League Zone 3B but managed a draw. Having faced King Solomon in the final game of the league’s first leg, RB Ghana bettered their previous result, that being a 3-2 loss, with the draw.
The draw keeps the Red Bulls (2-3-3) tied for fifth place, along with two others, at nine points, a full seven clear of the league cellar, only two shy of fourth and three out of third.
